A Prayer In Response To The Corona Virus

Feb 01, 2023

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Your Name, Your Kingdom come.  Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Please give us this day our daily bread and forgive us of our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us. Lead us not to temptation but deliver us from evil.  For Yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory.  For ever and ever, Amen

Father, thank-you for being our God and for welcoming us into Your Kingdom.  Thank-you for all that you do for us as individuals and for humankind.  Lord God, we give thanks that you are with us in our difficult times with us as well as our happy and successful times.

Thanks that you are in the midst of this corona virus with us.  We pray and ask for you to be present in all the decisions of all the leaders and other people of this world, as you lead us to figure out and apply the answers to dealing with this world-wide epidemic.  Please lead our doctors, nurses, scientists and the leaders of our world at all levels of authority and leadership – in all nations.

Lord it may be one of the many, many signs of end times.  Or it may not.  Only you know.

Help each of us to support one another at this time.

May you be pleased with each of us, overall.  Please correct our behaviours and decisions where they are wrong.

Lord, God, Jesus and Holy Spirit, we trust you.  We go forth in your name. May this be a time when You lead countless people to your Kingdom.

We ask all this in Jesus name,

Amen

Prayer offered by Dennis Seeley & shared online in lieu of our 2020 Breakfast.

Lord Almighty, Our community’s diversity is a clear display of your abundant love for your children. Lord, we acknowledge that sometimes in our jaded perspectives as human beings we turn this beautiful display of love through diversity into a justification for alienation, oppression, and persecution. Lord, may you empower us instead to celebrate these differences and recognize them as the gift that you intended for our worldly existence. Lord, fill us with understanding, with respect and with love for all of your creations, for those who look and act like us and for those who we view to be different from us in one way or another. You have created us all equally, Lord and I pray that we all feel the power of that equality and allow it to lift us up each and every day through our thoughts, our words and our actions.

Heavenly Father, in the precious name of Jesus, we pray for our town, our province, our country and beyond! First of all Lord, we thank you for loving us and directing us to pray for others! You told us that the first and greatest commandment is to “Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, soul, mind, and strength. And the second is like it, to love your neighbour as yourself”. Lord, I pray that you will encourage and prompt each of us to show Your Love to others in various ways. Open our ears Lord, that as we respond to Your leading, we will walk in FAITH and act in love. In this time of uncertainty, many are fearful; but Your Word instructs us to “FEAR NOT”. Canada has a destiny to be a LIGHT to the nations. As believers in the most high GOD, this is our time to SHINE! We can choose to bring the light of God’s love to the world. So we pray Lord God for your wisdom and guidance. To do this, we need MORE of Your Presence! Grant to our Leaders, your Divine inspiration and to correctly discern TRUTH.

Loving Father, we pray for our community of Whitchurch-Stouffville. We are reminded of our human frailty in times like this when we are confronted with a global pandemic. We pray for people who have become sick with COVID-19 or other serious illnesses. We pray for those who have lost loved ones recently. We pray for people who are living under financial stress. We pray for those who are living under the increased anxiety that our community is feeling at the moment. We recognize that these stresses are real but you are stronger. So, we look to you as the source of our peace and provision. Jesus we are reminded of your words, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So, don’t be troubled or afraid.” So, we choose to receive your gift of peace. We choose to focus our attention on you because you are a God of great strength, peace and unfailing love. Help us, as we navigate the coming days and weeks. Help us, as Christ followers, to be distributers of your love and peace to the people we meet. We pray these things in your name. Amen.
